graphic scores for artistic collaborations.

My work with graphic scores started with the postcard composition project (p.c.c.p.) in December 2009, when I made and mailed small visual scores from Idaho to several dozen musician friends around the country. The following May, we had a concert/party at Mills College to share the results. My graphic scores began to connect musicians with other performing artists, and by the summer of 2010, the project had grown into an ongoing collaboration including a dozen composers, improvisers, and dancers.  In the summer of 2012, choreographer Peiling Kao asked me to make five new postcard scores for her evening-length show based on collaborative work that hinged upon my visuals.

In 2013, Les Stuck and I were nominated for an Isadora Duncan
Dance Award in Outstanding Achievement in Visual Design for his live projections of my postcards for Imprint. Below are stills and a video link from the performance at Temescal Arts Center in Oakland, CA (photos by Carly Hoopes).
